The Feeling

Do you ever get the feeling that you are so lucky to be alive?
The feeling of pure exhilaration; pure gratitude for the life that you have.
Even though things aren't perfect.
Even though you still do not have a job.
Even though you are stressed when you think about the future.
You have a day, a moment where you get "the feeling".
I can only describe this feeling as Heaven on Earth.

Symptoms include:

1. Constant smiles
2. Contentment
3. Lots of laughs
4. A desire to be better...to do better
5. Being utterly exhausted at the end of the day

I love moments where I can feel and experience all the beauty that this world has to offer us.
Moments spent sleeping in.
Moments spent eating a yummy meal with amazing friends.
Moments spent learning something new (in this case, going to the driving range on a gorgeous day)
Moments spent just being outside without a deadline...without a watch.

As you all know, I like to keep a gratitude journal.
It helps me gain perspective and it helps me to remember that everyday has the potential to be amazing.
Today, I am grateful for sunshine.
I am grateful for music, the smell of banana bread currently baking in the oven, and friends that know my faults...and love me anyways.
I am grateful for possibilities.
I am grateful for how unpredictable life is. For the chance to evolve and to grow.
I am grateful for the person I am: A person that loves people and who desperately wants to make a difference in this world.
I am grateful for a Heavenly Father that loves me and trusts me, even though many times, I am just winging it.
I am grateful for my family and for the unconditional love they have for me.
I am excited for my future and for the challenges and adventures that it will bring.

I'm sorry if this post is too "unicorns and rainbows".....but I am just so happy!

Let's face it, if Dr. Seuss said it....it is true!

What are you grateful for today?

Friends

Today, I am feeling really grateful for good friends.

I have so many in my life.

To be my friend:

1. You must be crazyyy= You must be willing to make a fool out of yourself and do silly things. Life is too short to be boring... I always say.

2. You must love music and dancing= My friends can attest that I frequently burst into song. I sing, I hum, and I dance. Dancing is so fun because you can just let loose and be crazy!

3. You must be loyal and kind. If there is one thing that I cannot stand, it is insincerity. Everyone deserves to be treated nicely and to be loved.

4. You must have a sense of humor. Life is not perfect. Sometimes you just need to know when to throw in the towel........and LAUGH!

5. You must be yourself. Why would I need fake friends? We all have something to contribute and our own talents. Let those shine. Never be someone you're not. Not only do you do yourself a disservice, you rob the world of your contribution :)

Spiritual High

So I feel like I've been away from you guys forever! I'm sorry, I've just been moving in and re-adjusting to life in Provo.

You should have seen me on Friday. I was a hot mess. We moved into our apartment and the set-up of the room was not working, at all!

We rearranged all of the heavy furniture and finally, it was looking better. Afterwards, we had to move in really heavy boxes up flights of stairs. Then, there were a series of other mishaps that left me feeling frustrated, annoyed, and pathetic.

The last straw came when I took a shower before bed, only to discover that the water was ice-cold.

By then, the tears were flowing because I was just so physically and emotionally drained. I sat down on the shower floor and cried. I promised myself that the next day would be better...and I went off to sleep.

You know what though? When I woke up the next morning, the world was set right again. I was happy and I felt more settled and calm.

I went out to run some errands with my good friend Amy, and we had fun spending the rest of the day with each other.

The highlight of the day came when we got together with a friend from Freshman year and we were all reunited again. We gossiped and told stories of the men in our lives and it was just like old times. Even though we hadn't seen each other for a few months, we instantly picked up where we left off.

I felt like I could finally breathe again.

Today is Sunday, so of course I had Church. Today was the first Sunday in my new ward, and even though I felt lame for being the only one from my apartment to go, it was great. I made some new friends and got pumped for what the ward has to offer.

Despite the stress, life is awesome. It really is.

I count my blessings everyday and I am soooo lucky. Really, there are many things in my life that go right even when it seems like everything else is a complete disaster.

I am so grateful for friends that make life beautiful and help me to find the light when all I can see is darkness.

I am loved, I am prayed for, and I am truly blessed.

I know I would....but ya know what? I can do hard things...and you can too.

Stay tuned for pictures of my apartment :)

A plane ticket back to Utah: $400, Spending a couple days with a best friend: Priceless

Tomorrow, I will move back to Provo.

While I am excited to be back in P-town, I am also enjoying spending time with Holly in good ole' Price, Utah.

We have been extremely busy.

Ok, well not really.....unless you count having to deal with BYU's registration and Financial Services. Let me just tell you, it is no bueno.

Today we spent the day finding out what it would be like to trade hairstyles.

Holly rocked my dark hair

And I loved my lighter, shorter hairdo :)

Then, we decided to play a little pool. I need to get in as much practice as I can before we leave because I just plain suck. Am I allowed to say suck? How about stink?............ I reallllly stink at pool.

Holly on the other hand is a pool shark :)

We also got in touch with nature today...especially with some way nast bugs! Despite it all, we had a fun time working on our tans.

The funny thing about Utah, is that you can enjoy grassy splendor in some areas.....then open your back gate to find this:

Pure wasteland....but perfect for 4-wheeling.

All in all, it was a perfect day. Except I am kinda fearing for my life right now. Why? Well, because it is dinner time.

Normally that would be a good thing...yummy food? Yes please! But, around these parts, food is scary folks.

Since we arrived, Holly's gma has been shoving food down my throat! She piles on the food before I can protest. Not wanting to offend her, I thank her and get to work.

When she is in the other room, I shove my food onto other people's plates. I also lie and say "yes, I already had some"...when she tries to shove more food on my plate.

I know, I'm bad.

But seriously, it is getting out of hand gma King.

I am especially fearful for my health since Holly and I helped her make today's dessert: Cinnamon Rolls

They were made with equal parts butter and sugar....and are guaranteed to stick to my thighs.

High calories and all, I am so excited to have Holly here at school with me :)
